{Perfect Pair} Wedding Card

Hi Crafters,

We are celebrating a wonderful couple this weekend!
I made this card because it fits the couple so perfectly. The tennis shoe is from SVGCuts.com the heel is from Gypsy wonderings and the sentiment is from Sweethearts.
I embossed the light purple with a chevron folder from Stampin' Up.

Valentine's Wreath

Hi Crafters,

One of my favorite holidays is coming up! It allows me to use as much pink and glitter as I want and it's artistically acceptable.

Here's a wreath I made for my poor backdoor that still had my autumn wreath up!

I took a wire wreath form and a bunch of scraps I had in the loft. I used ribbon, cotton fabric from a jelly roll, deco mesh, jersey scraps, and tulle. I cut them in strips and tied them around the wreath filling it out. The middle was looking a bit bare so I cut out a bunch of hearts on my Cricut. Most of the hearts are from Sweethearts. I glued the hearts on some bakers twine and tied that to the wreath. I had some larger heart cuts that I glued onto the wreath proper. It's perfect for Valentine's!

Thanks for stopping by love bugs!

Spreading Christmas Cheer at Cut it Up!

Hi Crafters,

The challenge for this session at Cut it Up! is Christmas in July! Wedding season is also in full swing! One of my favorite add on gifts to give at showers or weddings is a personalized ornament for the couple.

Everyday Cricut has a great tutorial on how to make these ornaments with pledge floor wax and ultra fine glitter. I prefer the squished round ornaments, it makes it easier to apply the vinyl. The script letter is from Martha Stewart Elegant Cakes cartridge, the rings are from Sweethearts, and the black font is from Opposites Attract.
I added some tulle, ribbon, bakers twine, and raffia to finish off the tops.

Be sure to link up your project to Cut it Up for a chance to win a great prize!!

Bridal Shower {Shaker} Invites

Hi crafters,

I had a blast working on these bridal shower invitations.  I created shaker style vellum invites for my niece's 3rd birthday.  I use that inspiration for these invites as well.  I cut out a bridal gown, an engagemetn ring, and the various hearts from the Sweetheart's cartridge.  I cut out an H for her name an an S for his name from Martha Stewart's Elegant Cake cartridge.
I designed the text on microsoft power point and printed 4 invites per page making their final size 4.25x5.5. I sewed around 3 of the sides.

I filled the invite with the cutouts and some sequins

I then adjusted the cuts inside the vellum and sewed the last edge close. I hope the bride to be likes the way they turned out.

{Celebrating (13) Years} Cut it Up Challenge {tree}

Hi Crafters,

The new challenge is up at Cut it Up! The challenge is incorporate a tree into your project.

I came up with a simple 12x12 scrapbook layout.  My husband and I are celebrating 13 years as a couple this week.  Here are a few highlights a few proms, engagement, wedding, and a few other snapshots.  It's so hard to believe how quickly the time has flown!
The tree is from Sweethearts I embossed the leaf piece and popped up a few of the smaller leaves.  The hexagons are from George and Basic Shapes.  The font is from Don Juan.

{Valentine's} Door Dec

Hi Crafters,

I had my college roommate in town this weekend. While she spent time cutting away on her cricut I messed around as well.  I whipped up this quick and easy Valentine's door hanging.
I started with a wide satin ribbon.  I used the Sweethearts cartridge for the images.  The pennants are from Birthday Bash.

I cut two  8.5x2 1/8 inch strips and scored them for the rosettes behind the scalloped circles (from Mini Monograms).

I used markers to outline the images before I cut them out.  Look at that adorable little cherub bum! I think he may also appear on my cards this year.

I finished off each pennant with some ribbon and twine. I hot glued the pennants to the ribbon and made a loop at the top for more ribbon and twine to secure it to the door hook.

The best part of all...I didn't have to purchase anything! I love it when a project comes together like this.

Happy Crafting

This {nest} is blessed!

Hi crafters,

Merry Christmas!  I hope you've had a lovely holiday season with your family!

Today my husband and I are celebrating 5 blessed years as husband and wife!  It's so hard to believe it's been 5 years!  This time 5 years ago it was about 60 degrees outside and just perfect.

I thought this bird couple in their sweet nest was a perfect way to reflect on this past year.  My sweet husband built me a beautiful nest for us to share the rest of our lives in together.  This couple is from Sweethearts.

While I am bragging on him let me show off the latest in the craft loft.  My counters have been installed, the cabinets have been stained, and the sink is in place and ready to roll!
It was looking much cleaner before I got in the loft this morning to work on the anniversary card and on projects for my nephew's upcoming baby shower!  He used a minwax water-base color tinted stain on the cabinets the color is winter moss.  I like that you can still see the wood grain through it all.

Enjoy your weekend!

Polka-Dotted Swirls Wedding Card

Hi Crafters,

I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying being able to run up to the craft loft and whip up a project.  There's nothing like having everything out and ready to go.

I found out recently that a new co-worker is getting married in a few weeks.  I created this for our group gift from the team.

I used this Taylored Expressions sketch for my inspiration.

The triple accent are 3 little sewn hearts from my machine.  The rings are cut from Sweethearts cricut cartridge.  I embossed the small white square with the the textile cuttlebug folder.  I used the Martha Stewart scoreboard to make an envelope to fit the A7 sized card.

Thanks for stopping by!  Ya'll East Coasters stay safe this weekend! The hurricane Sandy is late to the hurricane season party.

Bridal Shower Card with Purple Accents

Hi Crafters,
I am headed on a road trip today with my mom and younger sister.  We are headed to the American Girl store then I am going to my college roommate's bridal shower.

This is the card I made for her shower. I swear if I could make clothes with my cricut and cuttlebug I would be set!
I used the Sweethearts cricut cartridge for the dress and veil.  The patterned paper came from the DCWV Sweet Shop photo matt stack.
I cut the dress in the two layers and embossed the back layer with the d'vine swirls folder.  I cut a small piece of tulle and attached it between the two layers.  The top layer was also embossed with the cuttlebug.  I trimmed off the straps to make a sweetheart neckline.  I attached some bling with the Jolee's Heat affix tool.  I sewed the tulle to the veil and trimmed it to the correct size.  I then cut a piece of purple card stock and did a decorative stitch on the top and bottom with my sewing machine

Enjoy your day!

It's all in the details...

Hi Crafters,

We had our Around the Clock shower yesterday for my best friend.  Here are a few details that I made for the shower.

I used the same colors for the shower for her bride button.  The word bride is from Sweethearts.  I embossed the yellow scalloped circle with my cuttlebug.  I added some bling with the heat affix tool from Jolee's.  I used glue dots to add some white tulle then used pop dots to attach the yellow circle to the blue.

The theme for the shower was Around the Clock.  I got a tank top that said "Just Married" and a classic Victoria Secret gift box just to mess around with the bride.  I made her this card and put for Midnight inside the card.  This cut is from Sweethearts.  I used glue dots for the tulle and pop dots for the bra piece.  I embossed all three pieces with the cuttlebug.

The paper is from the DCWV Sweet Treats mat stack.  The bling was also attached with the Jolee's heat affix tool.

We had a great time at the shower. Everyone enjoyed themselves and I got many compliments on the decor and gifts.  That always makes a crafter happy!

60 memories for 60 years

Hi crafters,

My mom turned 60 over the weekend.  She's a fantastic lady! I am SO lucky to have her in my life. Here's a quick snapshot from last Halloween for idiom day.  She was the tree and I was the apple..for "The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree".

This year for her birthday I saw an idea on Pinterest where the blogger had contacted friends and families to gather memories for her dad's birthday.  I used my bind it all and a 1.25 inch silver wire to bind a 6x6 book.  I contacted friends and family to add to the book. I used stamps and cricut images to supplement the memories.

I also used envelopes to put in stories that were a bit longer.  She loved the way it turned out.  There was lots of laughing and a few teary moments as she flipped through the pages.  I had a blast putting it together as the memories rolled in from people.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Bridal Event Oreo Cupcakes

Hi Crafters,

Here's my weekend project!  I made oreo cupcakes using Bean Town Baker's Recipe.  I followed the advice of some of the comments and added the sugar with the butter to cream it before adding the milk. I also put a bit of batter in the bottoms of the cups to keep the cookie from sticking.  The wrapper peeled off like butter once they were completely cooled.  I brought these to a party my best friend was hosting for her bridesmaids.  They were a big hit.

Now on to the toppers...
I made the fan-folded rosettes with 1x11 paper strips.  I used my Martha Stewart scoreboard to score every 1/4 inch increment.   I used my cuttlebug to cut out small scalloped circles out of gold paper from the DCWV Peacock stack.  I then hot glued the ends of my rosettes together and hot glued a scalloped circle on each side.

The blue bridesmaid dresses and shoes came from Gypsy Wonderings.  The white bridal gown came from Sweethearts.

I glued toothpicks to the backside of the rosette for support.  Sorry about the subpar picture,it is from my cell phone because my husband had the nikon with him.

Bridal Shower Gifts and a little house update.

Hi Crafters,
I'mmmmmm back!!  I received such kind love on one of the craft boards I frequent, it made me smile.  Here's the card I made to go with the wine glasses in the post below.  The bride is from Sweethearts.  I embossed the skirt of her dress, the background, and the bouquet with my cuttlebug.  I used the heat affix tool to add some gems and smooth pearlized to add some accent to the skirt.

I also made a set of stationery with the couple's monogram.  I heat embossed the text. I used red pigment ink and clear embossing powder.  I used a ruler to help me find the center and stamped the large T first.  I then arranged the smaller letters on a separate block and stamped those next.
The font is actually from two separate Martha Stewart sets.  I found one at Walmart on clearance about a year ago and the smaller set I found at Michael's on clearance in the past month.  I cut the background at 4.25x5.5 and the white at 4x5.25.  I made a box to put the cards and envelopes in but was running low on time, so I didn't get a chance to take a picture.

Here's a quick short of the house the CraftyMr is "crafting" for us ;)
I'm standing behind the house on the hill for the first 2 shots.  We're going to have amazing views from the second floor (which is where the craft loft will also be).  The right side shows the basement and the most recent addition, the chimney.

The dinosaur is from Create a Critter.

The lighthouse is from Life's a Beach
Please pardon the fact that O and P are reversed. Octopus is from Life's a Beach
The crown is from Gypsy Wonderings
Umbrella is from Life's a Beach
Hearts and XOXO are from Sweethearts. The zebra is from Create a Critter.
