Organization Month

Hi Crafters,

I've been following all the #chashow tweets on twitter and Cricut Provo Craft on facebook for updates on the CHA trade show happening this weekend.  I wish I could be there!

Did you know January is organization month?  You still have a few days left to get into gear and organize a few spaces!  I got this embellishment storage from Joann's it looked like it was a Black Friday special they had leftover.  Its original price was $1.99, but it was the only item I purchased not on sale so I got it for less than $1.00 with coupons.  I added some vinyl and some bling and it's perfect for my buttons and brads (and googly eyes).
Happy organizing!

A special birthday is coming up!

Hi Crafters,

We got a little snow and ice yesterday which allowed me to have a snow day today!  I had a bunch of random craft projects going on today.  I find myself dabbling in about 3-4 things at a time leaving my kitchen and craft area a mess of scraps!  I also find myself re-organizing my craft area just about every time I make something.  Today I purged my scrap supply and ended up with a good sized bag to pass on to one of "the girls" from Crafting with My Girls (she has a cuttlekid and is the cutest kindergartner I know).

Today's agenda consisted of finishing my nieces birthday party invites.  I can't believe she is almost 1!  She loves her cat and her mom requested a cat themed party.  I pulled out my Hello Kitty Greetings cart. I got lucky because this cart already had a "card" feature on it.  This also fits into an A2 sized envelope.  I added a bit of bling with my Jolee's heat afix tool. I printed the wording with my printer and used the shadow feature on the cart to cut out around the words (and it only took me three trials to get it line up. That has to be a record right?).

Tomorrow is Friday and then the weekend begins!  Looks like we are headed to school at normal time which suits me just fine as we are headed on a field trip (that we would have missed if we had a delay).

Valentine's Sweetheart Card Series Part 2

Hi Crafters,

I have recently started up a facebook fan page.  I would love to have you "like" my page.  I will use that page to post project updates and any good deals I find floating around!

Continuing with my Valentine's Card series...
This sweet kitty is from Sweethearts.  I used a white gel pen to add in some details and those cute dewy goggly eyes just added the perfect sweet touch.  I think this one will be for my niece.

Sweethearts Valentine's Day Card Series

Hi Crafters,
Thank you to those that purchased the amazon gift card! I was able to get mine for free!

This adorable monkey is from Sweethearts.  I used the markers outline his face and body for an extra detail.  I embossed the branch with the cuttlebug branch folder.  I'll be posting a few more cards from this cartridge soon!

Living Social

Hi Crafters,

I stumbled on a deal from livingsocial.com where they are offering a $20.00 Amazon Gift card for $10.00. They are a daily deal website and this offer will expire within 15 hours.  They are also running their 4 for 3 deal on mats on amazon as well.  Great way to stock up on the needed craft supplies!

I would appreciate if you use the following link (if three people buy this I will get my card for free) and they will give you a special link to do the same for your gift card.

Simple Valentine's Card

Hi Crafters,

I made this card with the hearts embossing folder for the cuttlebug. I put a bit of ribbon and a few buttons with glue dots and called it a day.
I used the coredinations paper from the so mod pad.
I have so much fun with Valentine's Day projects...maybe because you can put pink on anything?

Lyrical Letters Cards

Hi Crafters,

I needed to make some cards today to be sent ASAP.
Lyrical Letters have these beautiful card layers.  I cut them on my gypsy at 5.06 (so 5 inches on the regular machine) I also turned on the real dial size.  They are simple but beautiful.

Craft nook

Hi Crafters,
I got my cricut about 2 years ago...little did I know what it would turn into!  I started with the personal and upgraded soon after to a create thinking I was done! Well, I am now the happy owner of a create, a cake mini, a cuttlebug, a gypsy and an expression!

As most crafters know organization is essential when it comes to this type of hobby! We live in an apartment and have a small office nook between our bedroom and kitchen.  When we first moved it in was used as an office/place for my husband to work on his audio engineering projects.  I would say about 6 months after getting the cricut he packed up his things and let me use the office (I'm not sure if he realized this was a permanent situation and one that would GROW into the small space hehe).

My sister works for the Girl Scouts and the local office is closing.  I saw this fantastic K&Co piece in the office over the summer and had inquired it but didn't have much luck.  Well, lo-and-behold she was able to nab it for me when they closed!  My wonderful husband went with me to pick it up and moved it in today.

I decided to snap some pictures of how the whole nook is oriented.
Here's a full shot. I keep my create ready to travel in the pink case to the left. The bookshelf is filled with craft books and supplies.  The K&Co piece is the cream colored piece to the right.

This is my art bin super satchel. I keep all my embossing folders, most of my cricut cartridges/handbooks/keypads, my edge punches, my clear stamps in cd cases, and my ink/glue/pens/stamp cleaner.  This makes it super easy to travel, but it is HEAVY!.

Here's the desk set up with the expression. The rolling drawers underneath have paint, buttons, stickles, punches, and other tools. My cuttlebug sits to the right (not pictured).  I have a letter/bill organizer that holds the cuttlebug plates and photos that need to be scrapped (to the right of the printer).

This is a close up of my new piece.  It did not come with the wooden dows on the top for the ribbon bu tit did have these white hooks.  I took two cake dows and rested them between two hooks with the ribbon on them.  My husband also drilled a hole in my ATG gun to hang on one of the hooks.  I like this piece because so many of my "no home" items now have a place.  It is missing a few plastic pieces to hold paper on the bottom so I filled it with my vinyl, contact paper, MS scoreboard, and card storage.  It's still not full on top with the hooks so we'll see what it holds next.  The bottom half has 4 shelves for 12x12 paper.  It's quite the piece! Organizing things is just the best feeling in the world!

Happy crafting (and organizing)

Michael's Clearance

Hi Crafters,

Michael's is having a fantastic cricut sale (it has started in a lot of places already but will officially begin Sunday Jan 9)

They had a bunch of the older carts on sale for 9.99. Gypsy is 50.00 (and the 5 cartridge download deal is still going), and the Create is also 50.00.

I picked up several carts for my friend over at Crafting with my Girls (she got several of my favorites and one I don't have...she's a great sharer )  I also got Wild West for myself.

I paid a little over 100.00 and got 5 cartridges and a create machine!

I hope you can find some good deals!

Peacock Birthday

Hi Crafters,

Welcome to my new followers and visitors! I can't believe the flow of traffic I have had over the past few days.  I hope it continues.

Here is a birthday card I made for my older sister.  I used Give a Hoot for the peacock and the MS ribbon threader punch for the ribbon.
The plaid paper is from the DCWV Spring Showers pack.

Happy New Year

Hi Crafters,
This morning I pulled together a layout that had been on my mind for the past month or so.  I wanted to do a quick 2010 recap to put in my scrapbook for the year.  When I got going this morning I noticed My Pink Stamper is doing a design team call on her blog and issued a design challenge of using her favorite colors: pink, green, and brown.

I used the following cartridges for this layout:
Don Juan
Martha Stewart Elegant Cake
Printing Press

Recipe
Brown paper from The Paper Company

  • Cut 2010 from Don Juan at 2 inches
  • Cut the looped framed square from Martha Stewart Elegant Cakes at 7.75 inches
Raspberry Core'dinations Paper from So Mod Pad
  • Cut the looped framed square shadow from Martha Stewart Elegant cakes at 10.5 inches
  • I used the Gypsy to put the letters at 2 inches for "Reflections" in the center of this square knowing I would layer it with the brown square to cover the holes
Grass green Core'dinations Paper from So Mod Pad for background
2.5 inch strip of green polka dotted paper from the DCWV Flower Power Spring pad

Steps
  1. Layer pink scalloped square in center of green background
  2. Layer brown looped frame square to cover the cut outs in the center of the pink square
  3. Adhere the green polka dotted strip to the top edge of layout
  4. Emboss 2010 with the Spots and Dots cuttlebug embossing folder
  5. Adhere the 2010 to the side of the brown looped square
  6. Adhere the letters "Reflections" across the top of the layout
  7. Journal about family memories from 2010 and aspirations for 2011 on coordinating cardstock and adhere to the layout
You will be finished with this layout in no time at all!

Happy New Year! May 2011 be filled with wonderful memories and moments (and some crafting too)!
