Vellum Filled {Polkadot} Party Invites

Hi Crafters,

My niece is turning 3 next month! I just can't believe it!  She has requested a polkadot themed party this year.  I started working on her invitations and remembered this fabulous card from Thoughts of a Card-making Scrapbooker.

I printed the sentiment from my printer on to a piece of vellum I trimmed it down to 5x7.  I cut another piece of vellum at 5x7 and sewed 3 sides together with a zig zag stitch. I cut out circles in various sizes and colors and filled the pocket with circles and sequins. I sewed the last side to close everything up.  I took the photo with a piece of pink card stock in the background so you could easily see the details.  I adore the way they came out, they are fun to shake and move everything around.

If I had it to do again I would have cut out some number 3s to add to the pocket.  Be sure to check back, I will be revealing her custom birthday shirt in the next few entries!

{Valentine's} Door Dec

Hi Crafters,

I had my college roommate in town this weekend. While she spent time cutting away on her cricut I messed around as well.  I whipped up this quick and easy Valentine's door hanging.
I started with a wide satin ribbon.  I used the Sweethearts cartridge for the images.  The pennants are from Birthday Bash.

I cut two  8.5x2 1/8 inch strips and scored them for the rosettes behind the scalloped circles (from Mini Monograms).

I used markers to outline the images before I cut them out.  Look at that adorable little cherub bum! I think he may also appear on my cards this year.

I finished off each pennant with some ribbon and twine. I hot glued the pennants to the ribbon and made a loop at the top for more ribbon and twine to secure it to the door hook.

The best part of all...I didn't have to purchase anything! I love it when a project comes together like this.

Happy Crafting

Batter up! {baseball} baby shower!

Hi crafters,
I celebrated the upcoming birth of my nephew yesterday.  The invitation is a flat A7 invite.  The onesie is from New Arrival.  I used the markers to do the design on the onesie to make it look like a baseball jersey.

The pennant pieces are from Birthday Bash.  The font is Opposites Attract.  I made the center piece reservable, the nursery theme is a jungle/safari theme so I put a few Create a Critter animals on the back.  This is the first time I tied each letter on with twine or raffia, it worked very well, much easier than threading the tulle through each letter.

I made burp cloths with rickrack trim and a special appliqué alligator one for the nursery.  The alligator is from Create a Critter.

I also made her a bath apron the pattern is from blissful patterns.  The tutorial was pretty easy to follow, I struggled a little bit with the pattern though.  It was nothing my home-ec teacher mom couldn't talk me through though.

The center pieces were roses in a square vase tied with tulle, raffia, and bakers twine.  A local baker and high school friend of the mom made these adorable cupcakes.  I created the cake toppers with Sports Mania.  I cut the shadow of the baseball and sandwiched a cookie stick between the shadow and the regular cut.

The co-hostess picked up these cracker jacks as the favors.  I cut out tags from Tags, Bags, Boxes and more.  The bat is also from Sports Mania.  I printed the sentiment and used a Stampin' up! punch to cut it out.

The food labels are 4x4 scored in half with bats and baseballs as accents.

We put a chocolate fountain, drinks, and cupcakes on the kitchen table.  I put a large baseball on the table cloth to dress it up bit.

It was a lovely shower.  Nephew got a TON of great stuff!  He'll be here before I know it.

Happy crafting,

Happy Birthday {Dinosaur}

Hi Crafters,

We recently celebrated my OLDER sister's 30th birthday!  As you know it's a big milestone birthday. I made her this fun dinosaur card.

The dinosaur is from create a critter.  Can you believe I JUST purchased this one? I know people have raved about it for years.  It is a fun cart to work with.  The little pennants are from Teresa Collin's Chic and Scary.

I'm gearing up for my sister-in-law's baby shower tomorrow.  I hope your new year is going well!
