{Prelude to Fall}

Hey Crafters,
I did a little pre-fall shopping this weekend! I stopped by a few nurseries and got some pumpkins and a pot of mums.
I also went to Michael's and got a few fake pumpkins as well.  I thought mixing those in with the real ones helps to throw off the fakeness.  I used vinyl to do our name on the large pumpkin.  The cute jack-o-latern accent came from Teresa Collin's Chic and Scary cartridge.

The smaller pumpkin says "Grateful" and that cut came from Gypsy Wonderings.
Here's the whole ensemble with the wreath from a few weeks ago.  Im welcoming fall with open arms!

Pumpkin Hat Layout

Hi Crafters,

I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures of my niece when she came to visit a few weeks ago. She was so excited to get her pumpkin hat.

I'm so pleased with how all the colors pulled together with her outfit! She looked adorable! She spent quite a bit of time going up and down the steps to visit animals (deer heads, wood ducks etc) in CraftyMr's studio.  We also spent some time in the craft loft.  She declared the cuttlebug to be magic!  We made a card for her to take to her uncle, which I heard later she couldn't part with.  I used the markers to outline the letters and cut pumpkins.  The font is Don Juan and the pumpkins are from Gypsy Wonderings.

Fall Baby Card

Hi Crafters,

Happy Friday!  I'm looking forward to a lovely weekend.  I have no big plans. I should do school work, did I mention that I am going for my National Board Certification this year?  It's amazing how much my urge to craft comes out full force when I have real "work" to do!  I managed to avoid a pretty lengthy assignment last weekend by spending time up in the loft.  I'll have to get my rear in gear this weekend!

Here's one my creations from last weekend...
I mailed off the other pumpkin hat to my sister in law at the beginning of the week and since it was such a fall-esque package I had to go with the fall theme for the card.  I embossed it with the cuttlebug and used mini monograms to cut the scalloped circle.

Summer to Fall Wreath

Hi Crafters,

I spent a lot of my 3 day weekend working on various crafts.  It was a perfect way to take a break from school!  Here's a wreath I worked using the Flower Shoppe cartridge.  I started with a plain grapevine wreath from Joann's.

I thought these colors were a great transition from summer to fall.  The remind me a little bit of mums.

I used the cut that is typically designed to use in the center of the flower.  I cut two different sizes and wrapped the smaller one first.  I then wrapped the larger one around the outside for the larger flowers. The small flower just has just 1 cut. Inking the edges of the petals helped add a bit extra detailing.  The button finished off the center perfectly!

I free hand cut some felt leaves and used hot glue and string to attach the flowers to the wreath.  I used raffia and some Martha Stewart ribbon to hang it from the wreath hanger.  This is our back door.  We don't use our front door very much, and I wanted to look at it everyday when I came home!

Crafting as an Aunt...

Hi Crafters,

Crafting as an Aunt is one of my favorite ways to craft.  When I found these free patterns from Fleece Fun I knew this would be the perfect first sewing project in the craft loft.  I had my sister ask Penelope which one she wanted for this fall and she picked the pumpkin. That one is my favorite with the dinosaur version coming in a close second. I made the size large child hat for her.

You may have noticed that there are 2 hats there... I will be an aunt x2 in February! My brother in law and his wife are having their first child.  I realize that a pumpkin hat in February may seem a bit out of place, so I created the baby's hat in a baby size large.  I can't wait to see that little pumpkin wearing my hat next fall.

The pattern, directions and video were very easy to understand.  I have plenty of leftover to make a few more.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy your Labor Day weekend!
