Valentine's Cards

My driveway is at the bottom where the trees slightly part. I'm not going anywhere!

I am a huge sucker for Valentine's Day. I have always enjoyed it. It takes everything I have not to go and buy just about every Valentine's decoration I see. I made a few little Valentine's with the past few snowy days we've had. It looks like we may have another snow day tomorrow.

Details on the cards:

I found the love mini cuttlebug folders on sale recently and thought they were too cute to pass up. I am a huge fan of the joy fold cards and they are the perfect size to use the small 2X3 cuttlebug folders.

The edge punch is one of Martha Stewart's I got for 3.00 after Christmas.

I used the core'dinations paper on the side with the hearts cuttlebug embossing folder.

The little girl and her dog are from A Child's Year.

Waiting on her Arrival!

My sister has gotten the high sign that if the baby isn't here by the 15th they will deliver that day! The whole family is so excited waiting on her arrival. We've had a good amount of snow here over the past several months and I was able to finish up her baby book this weekend.

I got a HUGE 80 page pack of Core-dinations paper from joann.com I used it on several pages. You can also see I used the cricut markers on several headings. I must say I think they add such an element of dimension. The cartridges used on this upload are: A Child's Year, George, Stretch Your Imagination, Christmas Cheer, Life's a Beach, Gypsy Wonderings.

A Bridal Shower

Here are a few shots of a bridal shower my mom and I hosted in the fall. I cut the tags from the Sweetheart cartridge. I also used the cricut to decorate the towel cake as well.

Usin' the Tools

I had one of those days on Saturday where I was able to pull out and use a bunch of my scrapbooking tools. I enjoy days like that especially because it seems like many scrappers buy things just in case they will ever be needed. I was able to use my cricut, gypsy, a bunch of cartridges, new edge puncher, xyron X and 250 sticker maker, various ribbons, silent setter, brads, bling, my cuttlebug, and the list goes on.

I am in the process of making a baby book for my niece who is due next month! My older sister is expecting the first of the next generation of our family and we are beyond excited. She is not a huge pink fan so I am using more purples and lavenders for her book. I have to admit the Sugar and Spice page is probably my favorite, I just had to squeeze some pink in there some where! I clearly am still getting the hang of the picture thing as you can see my pages are in reverse order. At least you get the idea!

Cartridges used: New Arrival, Lyrical Letters, Mini Monograms, Tags Bags Boxes and More, George, and Gypsy Wonderings. I'm sure there are more and I just don't remember.

Happy New Year!

I have joined the resolution club. I have this blog that is a great way to document my craftiness and I have not taken full advantage! I give a lot of the my creations away and this will help me to remember what I have done in the past for inspiration. I would like to update weekly.

I am going to be an Aunt at the end of February. My older sister is having a baby girl! I cannot put into words how excited I am. My younger sister, mom, and I threw a shower for her this past weekend. I of course went straight to work with the cricut! I purchased the New Arrival cartridge shortly after she announced her pregnancy. I put it to good use! I cut the tags from the chandelier at about 4 inches from the New Arrival cart. I then used the circle tag from Mini Monograms and tied with white ribbon.

I created the banner using Lyrical Letters at about 4.5 inches for the font. I then cut out scalloped circles and squares from Mini Monograms as well. I used brads to attach the letters together.

I made a simple diaper cake with ribbon as well.

Baby Shower festivities

invitiations

A co-worker's wife is having a baby in December. We are throwing them a shower next weekend. I used my gypsy to create the invitations. The onesie is from New Arrival. I stretched it to make it a bit longer so the words would fit. Using an 8.5X11 piece of card stock I printed 2 invitations per page. I then cut each sheet in half so it was 8.5X5.5 inches. I then cut the onesie on the cricut create. I cut the trim 3/10X1 of an inch for the arms and 1/5 X .8 of an inch for the crotch. I then embossed using the cuttlebug (I can't remember the name but it has funky circles).

I'm in the process of making a diaper cake that will be uploaded later.

Gypsy Review

I caved and ordered from the HSN special this past week. I figured I would eventually be purchasing it anyway, may as well take advantage of the extras! I am fortunate to have an E at school and a create at home, so this was yet another justification for purchasing. I got the Don Juan cart, travel bag, and car charger (although I'm not convinced I would purchase that other wise, it was a nice bonus). I'm not so sure about the extra 500 bonus points. I did not upgrade my shipping and it came in 3 days!! I was so excited to have it to play this weekend.

I have a few "unique" needs with my gypsy. First I am a lefty and second I am a mac owner. These were 2 concerns but after some research I determined they wouldn't be a hassle. I was pleasantly surprised and did not have problems setting up for either of these. The Gypsy even remembers that you set it to left (even though the screen starts out upside down). I was glad I wouldn't have to change this setting every time I used it.

It did not take me long to register my machine and link my cart collection.

I have designed several things and created a birthday card for my husband. His birthday is Monday. I can't wait to show it to him.

Features I like:
Long battery life (I played for several hours)
Able to design from several carts at a time
Welding (as a mac user I didn't own DS)
User friendly
Can use stylus or finger to tap screen (stylus is better for small nudges/buttons but finger works in a pinch)

Features that need improvement:
Wish the blue light came on when charging and or turned off when finished
Some of the overlay buttons are difficult to see even with the magnify button so you have to put them on to the mat then zoom
I also wish that you could have a list of just carts that are linked. I really don't want to see the whole library. Also wish you could search on just carts you own or the whole library.

Over all I adore this machine. I can't wait to really get the hang of it.
